Force mass acceleration8/14/2023 ![]() ![]() This equation is used to find the value of acceleration using force and mass. “Acceleration(a) of an object is dependent upon two variables - the net force(F) acting upon the object and the mass(m) of the object.” The second law explained how force, mass, and acceleration depend on each other. In the same book, he gave his all-time famous three laws of motion. In this book, he explained the effect of outside forces on the state of the body. Newton’s 2nd law of motion:Īround 300 years ago, Sir Issac Newton wrote a book by the title “Principia Mathematica Philosophiae Naturalis”. To know the nature of these relations we study Newton's second law of motion. So, now we know that the mass also has a direct or indirect relation with force. What if Britney’s cart is full to the top while Lisa has only a few items in her cart? Who will be able to move faster now? Now, what if the masses of their carts are different. This means that the force and acceleration are somehow related. If Britney is more powerful, will she be able to move the cart faster, with more acceleration? Yes! In daily life, we see numerous examples that tell us that there exists a strong relationship between mass, force, and acceleration.įor instance, take the example of two women, namely Lisa and Britney, pushing shopping carts in the mall. Relation between force, mass, and acceleration: Now that you know the definition of mass, force, acceleration, it is time that we move to the actual topic of the article. The unit of acceleration is ms-2 and it has the same direction as the force.ĭo you know? Velocity and acceleration can be opposite in direction like in the case of a ball thrown upward. If it is positive it is called acceleration and if it is negative it is called retardation or deceleration. “ Acceleration is a vector quantity that is defined as the rate at which an object changes its velocity.”Īcceleration is derived from velocity so it is also a vector quantity. Read more on the force in the post “Force Definition, Units, Types, Formula, and Applications.” Definition of acceleration: Acceleration is defined as: Before digging into those details, it is better we revise what acceleration is. The formula of force will be discussed later in the article. Its unit is Newton, which is equal to a force that moves the body of 1 kilogram with an acceleration of 1 meter per second square. It has different types i.e applied, friction, magnetic e.t.c.įorce has direction in addition to a magnitude which makes it a vector quantity. Definition of Force:įorce is a quantity that causes a change in the state or form of the body. According to NASA, it is possible for a black hole to be of the size of an atom and have the mass of a mountain. Mass does not depend on the size of the body. ![]() There are some other units that are used to calculate mass such as pounds, tons e.t.c This equation also removes the common misunderstanding that mass and weight are the same quantities. Where w is weight and g is the gravitational force. Mass is a scalar quantity and has magnitude only. ![]() ![]() What is mass, force, and acceleration? Definition of mass: In this post, we will first discuss mass, force, and acceleration and after that, we will see how they are interrelated by one of Newton's laws. Learn the answers to these and many more of your questions in the blog post below. Do you have to consider the mass of the object while applying force on it? Does acceleration affect force? ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Third, dark matter is not antimatter, because we do not see the unique gamma rays that are produced when antimatter annihilates with matter. We know this because we would be able to detect baryonic clouds by their absorption of radiation passing through them. Second, it is not in the form of dark clouds of normal matter, matter made up of particles called baryons. ![]() Observations show that there is far too little visible matter in the universe to make up the 27% required by the observations. First, it is dark, meaning that it is not in the form of stars and planets that we see. We are much more certain what dark matter is not than we are what it is. What Is Dark Matter?īy fitting a theoretical model of the composition of the universe to the combined set of cosmological observations, scientists have come up with the composition that we described above, ~68% dark energy, ~27% dark matter, ~5% normal matter. The thing that is needed to decide between dark energy possibilities - a property of space, a new dynamic fluid, or a new theory of gravity - is more data, better data. But if it does turn out that a new theory of gravity is needed, what kind of theory would it be? How could it correctly describe the motion of the bodies in the Solar System, as Einstein's theory is known to do, and still give us the different prediction for the universe that we need? There are candidate theories, but none are compelling. This fact would provide a way to decide if the solution to the dark energy problem is a new gravity theory or not: we could observe how galaxies come together in clusters. That would not only affect the expansion of the universe, but it would also affect the way that normal matter in galaxies and clusters of galaxies behaved. So the mystery continues.Ī last possibility is that Einstein's theory of gravity is not correct. But, if quintessence is the answer, we still don't know what it is like, what it interacts with, or why it exists. Some theorists have named this "quintessence," after the fifth element of the Greek philosophers. So the mystery continues.Īnother explanation for dark energy is that it is a new kind of dynamical energy fluid or field, something that fills all of space but something whose effect on the expansion of the universe is the opposite of that of matter and normal energy. The number came out 10 120 times too big. But when physicists tried to calculate how much energy this would give empty space, the answer came out wrong - wrong by a lot. In this theory, "empty space" is actually full of temporary ("virtual") particles that continually form and then disappear. The result could present a challenge to basic theories of dark matter.Īnother explanation for how space acquires energy comes from the quantum theory of matter. This image shows the distribution of dark matter, galaxies, and hot gas in the core of the merging galaxy cluster Abell 520. Come to think of it, maybe it shouldn't be called "normal" matter at all, since it is such a small fraction of the universe. The rest - everything on Earth, everything ever observed with all of our instruments, all normal matter - adds up to less than 5% of the universe. It turns out that roughly 68% of the universe is dark energy. Other than that, it is a complete mystery. We know how much dark energy there is because we know how it affects the universe's expansion. Theorists still don't know what the correct explanation is, but they have given the solution a name. Maybe there is something wrong with Einstein's theory of gravity and a new theory could include some kind of field that creates this cosmic acceleration. Maybe it was a result of a long-discarded version of Einstein's theory of gravity, one that contained what was called a "cosmological constant." Maybe there was some strange kind of energy-fluid that filled space. But something was causing it.Įventually theorists came up with three sorts of explanations. No one expected this, no one knew how to explain it. So the expansion of the universe has not been slowing due to gravity, as everyone thought, it has been accelerating. Then came 1998 and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) observations of very distant supernovae that showed that, a long time ago, the universe was actually expanding more slowly than it is today. The universe is full of matter and the attractive force of gravity pulls all matter together. Granted, the slowing had not been observed, but, theoretically, the universe had to slow. It might have enough energy density to stop its expansion and recollapse, it might have so little energy density that it would never stop expanding, but gravity was certain to slow the expansion as time went on. In the early 1990s, one thing was fairly certain about the expansion of the universe. ![]()

Iridient x transformer settings8/14/2023 ![]() Expect your DNG files to be of larger size than your RAF files. I invite you to try his and mine as well as play around with the software to tweak the results to your liking. Here are my settings, inspired by this author and tweaked to my liking (least a. In this part of the blog, I'll show you how to use the converter through simple steps. In the xtransformer converted DNG file on the right, each pixel is given space to display information. The orange handle of the shovel almost bleeds into the brick wall behind. When inspecting the RAF file on the left, we can notice a lot of smudges and over-sharpening artifacts in the center of the image on the tree trunk and branches. This first image of the apartment buildings is shot at 1/125 f8 to remove camera shake and hints of lens softness. I have included more images in the zip file for further personal comparisons. For the sake of this page, I have compressed them, but they can be found in max quality in the zip file. Here are some examples (you can download the raw files HERE for personal use only). Since X-Transformer rearranges the Xtrans color array into a typical Bayer array, the resulting digital negative will appear in Adobe softwares without the usual artifacts. This generates the "waxy watercolor" effect that many would notice on foliage and fine detail. Therefore, Adobe is prone to skip colors and create voids of information that will need blending later on. ![]() Since Fuji's Xtrans sensor array is different from that of typical Bayer camera sensors, the sequence of colors is usually confused by the Adobe Camera Raw engine. Since C1 offered marginal improvements to my results at the sacrifice of a steep learning curve and inferior "file stretching" abilities, I chose to continue working with Lightroom. As such, C1 and C1 Fuji is one and the same. Last time I spoke with the Fuji representatives, they told me Fuji simply paid Capture One to have the name appear next to the software name without much optimization. While I can understand its use for absolute images, it lacks the workflow speed and intuitiveness of Lightroom which I use on a daily basis for a living. When shot at Auto DR + Auto ISO + Exposure compensation Zero, the resulting file allows an insane level of flexibility with full highlight and shadow recovery (unlike my Nikon NEFs which only allow shadow recovery). This is what distinguishes the output of expensive (full-frames and Fuji) cameras from smartphones nowadays - the pixel-level detail. While Fuji JPGs are pleasing to most Fuji users, I prefer exploring the full potential of the Fuji raw file in order to reach a level of visual fidelity to the content I chose to capture. I quite often find myself cropping images. I am just a pixel peeper feeling the need to justify the big investment into expensive Fuji camera with expensive lens for ability to crop images without loss of quality. Left: X-transformer, right: LR Enhance detailsīut in the end I admit the result is never noticeable in reduced-size final version. Also the meshy texture in the church window is better resolved in "Enhanced" version. I compared them at 100% but still, some watercolour artifacts are noticeable. LR sharpness and NR setting for X-Transformed file Then I tweaked sharpness in LR to try to match the "Enhance Detail" version as much as possible: Thank you for the great tip with using X-transformer as a plugin. You are much better off using LR sharpening and NR. For best results with IXT, don't use the default settings, turn off (set to NONE) all the Iridient NR and sharpening, it can really make a mess of things, especially at high ISOs. You can use Iridient X-Transformer as a Lightroom plug-in and convert only selected files as needed - just like with Enhanced Details, easy and quick. Noise looks better in LR after Enhance details. ![]() I don't like how the noise in the Iridient photos looks. So I have to convert everything in Iridient, then import into LR. Because I cannot quickly and easily select which photos to convert, unlike in LR where I first import photos, then select ones to "Enhance details". Yes, Iridient X-transformer is much faster, with smaller files. ![]()
